Book It Program

Addison had to read 6 books to Chad or I in the month of October to get a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut....and she did it!  She was so excited to get her certificate and we are so proud of her and her reading.  I remember this program when I was a kid and am so excited that it has continued this long.  I hope it stays around to encourage kids to enjoy reading.  Chad had a poker game at the house with a bunch of guys from Schreiber, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to take Addison for her pizza.  Addison just completed her 6 books for the month of November and now working on December, so we will be visiting Pizza Hut pretty regularly, which is ok with me!

She ate every bit of it!

He wanted to join in on the fun

Caught "BEE-ing" Good!

Addison was caught "BEE-ing" good at school this month!  The librarian at school saw her cleaning up books in the library and she turned her name into the office. Addison was recognized as "BEE-ing" good!!  She got her picture taken with a bee and the bee got to spend the day with her in her classroom!!

The First Day of Preschool, 3 Year Old Class

Rhyder started back to preschool at Seeds of Faith Preschool in the 3 year old class.  He had been talking about going back to school about halfway through the summer.  This year, one of his good friends from the babysitters, Ian, got to be in his class.  He was so excited!  After school we took him out to eat at his favorite restaurant in Clinton, Golden Corral.  His favorite thing to eat there is the cotton candy!

The Night Before Preschool

I know this is a little late, but I really wanted to get it in the blog.  We have continued our night before school tradition with Rhyder.  He got a surprise ball on the night before he went back to preschool.  He had been anticipating it since Addison got hers before she started school.  It just so happens that Rhyder didn't start until 2 weeks after Addison did.  So on the night before, we got all ready for the first day of preschool by getting clothes ready, backpack ready, and taking a bath.  After Rhyder was all ready, he got to dig into his ball!

Ist Day of !st Grade

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  We have a 1st grader!  How did this happen?  Addison had a great first day of first grade.  She came home all smiles, which makes for one happy mama!  She said she loved everything about 1st grade, especially going to computers and the fact that her best friend is in the same class.  She said that lunch was a lot shorter than it was in Kindergarten and she enjoyed not having to take a nap.  She really likes both her teachers and she got to play with some of her friends from last year on the playground.  We finished the great day with dinner at Golden Corral, her choice, and dessert of cotton candy!  What an amazing day for her.  We love you Addison and are so proud of you!

The Night Before 1st Grade

Last year we started a tradition on the night before school starts.  I don't know what you would call it, but it's several small gifts wrapped up in crepe paper.  I think I called it a crepe paper ball.  Addison had a tumbling class the night before school started, so when she got home, she took a quick bath and ate some dinner.  After she was all ready for bed, we gave her the crepe paper ball we made for her.  It's so fun watching her open it, because the crepe paper just goes and goes and goes and each new gift is a surprise for her!

Meet the Teacher

Summer days have gone by and now school is beginning.  I can't believe it's already time to go back. This summer went by so fast and before we knew it, it was time to meet Addison's new 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Lankford.  When we went in, Addison found out that she will have two teachers until December.  Mrs. Brown is doing her student teaching during the fall semester for the University of Central Missouri.  Addison was so excited to find out she had two teachers.  She was also excited to find out that her best friend, Emma, is in her class and they sit right by each other and share the same locker.  We already had a talk about listening and not talking to Emma during class. Addison also found out that Mrs. Lankford has a white bunny rabbit.  She's so excited to start!

Last day of Preschool

Rhyder finished his first year of preschool and loved it!  He matured so much this year and improved in every area.  He knows all his colors, shapes, many of his numbers, and almost all his letters.  We are so proud of how well he's developing.  We are looking forward to next year and I think he is also.

Western Day

Family night at Henry Elementary this time was Western Night, so Chad got the kids dressed in their boots and jeans and met me up at the school to have a fun night with the kids.  They did all kinds of fun activities like dancing, panning for gold, stick horse racing, pin the tail on the horse, and roping a cow.  The kids had a blast.

Homemade Bread

Because of all the recent events in our country right now, going to buy staples, like bread, in the grocery store has become very difficult....
