Clambake Cruise

After walking the Freedom Trail all morning in Boston, we were in need of some much needed rest, and what better way to do that than on the water.  We left Boston and headed about an hour north to the coast in Gloucester, Massachusettes.  That night we went out to a private clambake on a lobster boat with CB Charters and our captain, Kevin O'Malley.  It was a two hour cruise of the Gloucester Harbor and a fabulous meal of New England clam chowder and sweet cornbread, steamers (which are steamed clams),  lobster, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and brownies.  It was the first time I have ever had steamers, and they were my favorite part of the meal.  After our meal, we were able to do a little fishing. We first got to catch the bait, which was mackerel. Not to brag, but Chad caught two and I caught 6 on one line.  The captain baited the line and then we were able to catch 3 striped bass.  The captain's son filleted the fish and we took it to a restaurant, Lobsta Land, the next day and they cooked it for us.  It was amazing!
